Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Updated: Jul 21

You’ve probably seen this Garnier Micellar Water before. Attractive transparent bottle, clear liquid and pink cap. Maybe you’ve seen it in your friend's bathroom. It’s on my shelf too because it’s reliable and always does what I expect it to.

I’ve used it for years when I wanted to take my mascara off and clean my face after a whole day of work. It's very easy to use as you just need a cotton pad , pour some micellar water on it and with ease you take the rest off make up off your face. You can also use it with reusable bamboo or microfibre pads instead.

What I love most about it is how gentle it is on the skin. It never caused any irritation or burning. No harsh scrubbing. Plus 400ml bottle is incredibly long-lasting and obviously great value for money.  Since I don’t wear heavy make-up or any foundation, I don’t need any complicated , multi-step cleansing process. My daily look usually consists of just a mascara, serum , a bit of lipstick and a moisturising cream and Garnier Micellar Water handles that well.

You can easily buy it at any Boots or even Sainsbury's . That is another product I keep repurchasing.

Although the packaging says it's a no-rinse cleanser , I always rinse it off with water. It perfectly removes daily face creams and natural oils that build up on the skin throughout the day and prepares my skin for night cream to absorb better :)

Many skincare products have strong, fruity scents that can be overwhelming right before bed. This facial cleanser is fragrance free - perfect for sensitive skin but it also works great on combination skin as well.

For waterproof mascara it may take a little bit more time and patience. Instead of scrubbing I hold a soaked pad in micellar water and leave it for about 20seconds on my lashes. Mascara comes off easier. Always leaves my face clean and fresh.

Garnier also makes a bi-phase oil infused version specifically for stubborn waterproof mascara.

Is micellar water drying? In my case it didn't cause any dryness. Dermatologists recommend rinsing the product off to be on the safe side.

Overall I would give this product a solid 9/10 for its performance, perfect for a minimalist routine.
